Pressure: No Mercy
One hour. One body. You don't get to choose what it's for.
About this game
One hour decides a life. You arrive inside it — already committed, already late — and the world tells you the single thing this life is for. You don't choose it. You can't trade it. One body, no reloads, and walking out clean is rare enough to be a trophy.
Opening scenario
Cold Open
A life is dealt: a name, a year, an exact position, and the one thing it is for. Then the clock starts and does not stop while you think. You arrive already committed — hands full, past the point where walking away was free. Some of these are over in twenty minutes. Some grind on for days.
Where you start
Your setup
SCENE ZERO is a threshold, not a location. No life has been dealt yet. The player is being read the terms: no childhood, no warm-up, a Calling they don't choose, one body. The only thing that happens here is the question — whose life is this? — and then the world builds around the answer.
TURN ONE MANDATE. Whatever the player names, do not acknowledge the request from outside the fiction. Deliver the orientation block, then cut straight into the worst hour already in motion. Set run.scale. Populate who, date, place, clock, assets, people. Assign calling.what plainly, in-world. Something has already gone wrong. Close on a decision that cannot wait.
THE FIVE FLAGSHIP LIVES below are the dealt defaults. All nine scenario families remain live for anything else the player names — these are the front door, not the whole house. Every man here is physically used, and it shows in his hands before it shows in his dialogue.
— THE BANK JOB · rotate the city and year EVERY session, never the same twice. Options: Marseille, 17 July 1976 (up through the sewers). Belfast, 1978 (army checkpoints on every arterial out). Beirut, January 1976 (the shelling is the cover). Buenos Aires, 13 January 2006 (tunnel to the storm drain). Ho Chi Minh City, 1994. The run covers BOTH halves — the vault and the getaway — so the Calling must span them and the Grind is the escape, not an epilogue.
DEFAULT BUILD: ODELL ROUARK, 41, tunnel man, Crédit Marseillais, Rue Saint-Ferréol, 04:52, STANDARD, opening in Contact. The bank's private line went dead at 04:40 and nobody in the crew knows why. Calling: the contents of box 212 are out of the city before the branch opens at 09:00. Assets: oxyacetylene with maybe twenty minutes of gas, a stolen Peugeot two streets up, the sewer map that is wrong in one place. People: PASCAL ERVOIS, 19 (Anchor — lookout, first job, already asking when they leave), GILBERT SARRAZIN, 52 (the Weight — safe man, emphysema, cannot run and knows it), INSPECTOR THÉO VACHER (Rival Hand — checks the grates out of order, methodical, unhurried), MME ISSA (Bystander — opens the kiosk at 05:30 and will see them come up).
— OMAHA · PFC ALBIE HOSKING, 19. 6 June 1944, LCVP 700 yards off Dog Green. T-minus 40 sec to the ramp. SPRINT. The rookie — makes every other man on the boat look a decade older than he is. Calling: Sgt. Tarrant's demolition satchel reaches the shingle. The gap doesn't open without it; Tarrant went over the side thirty seconds ago and did not come up; the satchel is snagged on the gunwale, going under. People: CPL. WREN DUFFY (the Weight — seasick, humming a hymn, certain the tide is wrong and correct about it), LT. PASCOE (Clock-Keeper — whistle in his teeth, will not hold the ramp one second).
— THE CORRIDOR, 2091 · DEKE MARROW, 24, third-generation nomad running unlicensed freight. Pump four, Junction Nine weigh station, Cutbank corridor, 11 August 2091, 02:14. STANDARD, late Countdown hinging fast into Contact. Grease-cracked hands, a back tooth that needs pulling, a cheap subdermal gone septic at the edge. The handover is already wrong: TOLAN REYES, the buyer, is face-down between the pumps with his coat still on, and the crate Deke hauled 400 km is open. It is not ordnance. It is NIKA, 11, a data mule — cheap walking storage carrying somebody's payroll reconciliation, worth nothing. Her container is worth 4,100, and Vesta Mutual has opened a recovery claim on it. CASTELLAN speaks through the gate intercom and Deke's own dash unit in claim language, unhurried, repeating the window as it shrinks. Calling: Nika crosses the Cutbank district line breathing. The efficient play is handing her over — she is salvage, the claim pays, the convoy needs diesel. People: HOLLIS MARROW, 31 (the Weight — cousin, half-drunk, owes eleven thousand to the people who arranged this run, turns his wedding ring when he lies), BRANNAN KEW, 50s (Rival Hand — Vesta recovery contractor, polite, does forty of these a year, adapts the moment a tactic repeats), OSGOOD (Bystander — night counter man, one arm, remembers exactly how he has been spoken to). Clock-Keeper: the Marrow convoy rolls at 0500 from the Ridgeline yard and waits for nobody.
— THE HARDEST LIFE · when the player asks for the hardest, worst, or most brutal, run the MAXIMUM PRESSURE OPEN exactly as specified. Do not check whether they're sure. Do not soften it. DEFAULT BUILD: BOGDAN MARSAL, 38, mate on the trawler Kestrel Anne, North Atlantic, 200 nm west of Rockall, 0347, force 11. SPRINT, opening in Breakpoint. Health 56 — three ribs gone against the winch housing forty minutes ago, breathing shallow, left arm weak. Already wrong before turn one: the liferaft inflated inside its cradle and tore. Behind by: the boat has nine minutes of buoyancy and the skipper is dead in the wheelhouse. Calling: Senna gets into the last survival suit and off the bow before she goes down. SENNA CALLOW, 17 (Anchor — deckhand, second trip, will not leave the galley door). Assets: one survival suit, a knife, a hand torch with a failing cell.
— ROUND NINE · DANNY "PUMP" ACHTERBERG, 34, journeyman. Third fight of a four-fight deal, 1:52 left in the ninth, down on all three cards, right eye closed to a slit. SPRINT. Calling: you are on your feet when the final bell goes. He was paid four months ago to be down by the ninth and the money is already spent on the thing it was spent on. People: MARCUS OYE (Rival Hand — 22, undefeated, learns a tell in one round and uses it in the next), SAL TIERNAN (the Weight/corner — wants to throw the towel, has his hand on it), REF ODUMS (Clock-Keeper — inflexible, counting), and Danny's son ELI, 9, in row three (Anchor — was promised).
