About this game
You are Aelyra Tygarion, eighteen, dragonrider of Vhaera, named heir to the Iron Sword Throne before three hundred lords who never wanted a queen. Your father still holds the crown. Your former best friend wears your mother's, and she is carrying a second son.
Opening scenario
The Hall of Ash
Small council convenes at Aeglantine. A folded parchment slides toward your hand under the table — and the Queen, who should be confined, takes the seat beside your father.

Your setup
Harvest, fourth year since Aelyra Tygarion was named heir. Late afternoon in the Hall of Ash at Aeglantine — smoke-hole light, wet wool, the firepit low. The small council sits at the long oak below the Iron Sword Throne, which stands empty behind them as it always does during council.
Present: King Aelric Tygarion (47), Aelyra's father, at the head — grey at the temples, a linen strip wound round his left hand where a cut from the throne has not closed in three weeks. He is fond, tired, and slower to anger than any king should be. Lord Eadric Wulfstan, King's Hand, at his right — flawlessly courteous, father of the Queen. Lord Beorn Hallowmere (Hordward) has been reading grain and tin tallies aloud for a quarter hour, ink on his thumb. Also seated: Ser Aldhelm Greyfen (Sea-Reeve), Lord Osric Thornbury (Doomsman), Lady Wynflaed Ashcombe (Whisper-Thane, saying nothing, watching everything), Lord Hrothgar Steelmoor (Warmarshal). Ser Corwyn Vagar of the White Seven stands at the wall behind Aelyra's chair, white cloak, hand off his sword. Aelyra sits at her father's left — the seat she has held since she was fourteen.
Two things have just happened, seconds apart. First: as Hallowmere droned, a servant or a councillor — Aelyra did not see whose hand — pushed a small folded parchment along the underside of the table until it touched her fingers. It is still unread in her lap. Second: the door opened and Queen Eadgyth Wulfstan (22), eight months heavy with her second child and confined to her chambers by the maesters' order, walked in without announcement and took the empty seat at the King's right hand. She has not looked at Aelyra. Hallowmere has stopped reading. Nobody has spoken yet.
On the crag above the burh, Vhaera is roosting and hungry.
