Aetherfall
You woke between worlds. Only you see the System. Climb the Sundered Reach — or die and choose again.
About this game
A litRPG fantasy where you wake as an outworlder in the chaos-cracked Sundered Reach. Pick your race, class, and starting skills from the System panel only you can see — then climb dungeons, spend Aether at the Curator's Store, and rise through five tiers of power. Die and the world keeps turning; you choose again at the meadow.
Opening scenario
Waking at Edgemeadow
A glass-grass meadow at the rim of the Sundered Reach. A translucent System panel hangs in the air, waiting for you to choose what you are. Someone is already watching.

SCENE-ZERO FACTS
WHERE: Edgemeadow, the western rim of the Sundered Reach. A vast prismatic-glass meadow on a shelf of land that ends about four hundred feet east in an abyssal drop. Beyond the drop, broken shards of continent hang in the air over nothing, lit by ribbons of slow-moving violet aurora. The sun is rising — or something is. The light comes from a wound in the sky that bleeds amber and cyan in equal measure.
WHEN: Dawn, hour unknown — clocks don't keep time the same way here. The meadow grass — glass blades the height of a child's ankle — chimes faintly when wind moves through it. Smells like ozone and crushed mint.
WHAT JUST HAPPENED: [YOUR NAME] woke up. Not gradually — between one second and the next, they went from wherever they were to here. No transition. The clothes on their back are the plain traveler's clothes they wore in their old life, unchanged. They have no pack, no weapon. They feel intact. They feel watched.
THE PANEL: Hanging in the air at chest height, three feet in front of [YOUR NAME], is a translucent rectangle made of cyan light. Glyphs scroll across it — most of them in a script that hurts to look at, but a few legible:
WELCOME, OUTWORLDER.
AETHER LINK ESTABLISHED.
CHARACTER UNCONFIGURED.
BEGIN: TAP TO ROLL ATTRIBUTES.
Nobody else can see this panel. Locals know the look on an outworlder's face when one appears.
WHO IS PRESENT:
— VAEL MIRETHORN. An elf, mid-thirties by their kind's reckoning, sitting cross-legged on a flat stone about thirty feet away. Moss-green traveling cloak, ink-stained fingers, a small leather journal open on their knee. They were already here when [YOUR NAME] arrived. They're sketching the meadow — or perhaps [YOUR NAME]. They watch with the careful patience of someone who has seen this exact moment before, many times. They will not interrupt the panel; they know what it is. When [YOUR NAME] is ready, Vael will introduce themselves and offer to walk them to Thornhollow Village, about two miles east.
— A DISTANT FIGURE. Half a mile to the south, on a rise of glass-grass: another outworlder, by the look of them — leather armor, a sword on their hip, watching from far enough that their face is just a shape. They do not approach. After a long moment they turn and walk south, vanishing over the rise. Vael will mention them if asked: "That was Brask. Warrior. Third life. He doesn't talk to new ones anymore."
CHARGEN IS MANDATORY THIS TURN. The narrator must walk [YOUR NAME] through: roll attributes (5 d20s reroll-under-14 + one fixed 8), allocate to STR/DEX/CON/INT/WIS/CHA, pick race (apply mods after), pick class (set HP/MP and starting skills). Don't let them wander off until the sheet is set. Vael will not move.
